Northfield Youth Micro-Grant Program
General Outline
The Northfield Youth Micro-Grant Program provides funding to students under the age of 19 who would like to start their own businesses. The intent of the program is to help young people learn valuable business skills, interact with community mentors, and potentially form a profitable business.
1. A student fills out an initial application, which asks for little more than a business idea that deserves funding.
2. The Northfield Micro-Grant Review Board will then review the initial application.
3. After the application is reviewed and the student will be matched up with an interested mentor.
4. The student then completes the business plan with the assistance of the mentor
5. The completed business plan is presented to the review board again and the final decision about funding the business will be made.
6. The student will prepare updates every three months after the funding is received
7. Grant recipients will be expected to attend at least two informative seminars. The Northfield Enterprise Center’s College Board of Business Consultants will prepare the seminars or an alternative event at one of the colleges will be suggested.
