Happy May Day Everyone!

Posted by Joshua Jude, May 5th , 2008.

The Key had about 6 youth head up to the annual May Day Parade in Minneapolis to check out the spectacular parade and festivities. It was many of the kids first time at the event. Rather then go into the details of the event, I will let the pictures do the talking. You may also want to check out the website of In the Heart of the Beast, the organization that pretty much organizes (and puts up the money for) the entire May Day celebration. Skateboard Coalition Raises Big Chunk of Money

Posted by Joshua Jude, May 5th , 2008.

The Northfield Skateboard Coalition raised close to $1000 this past Saturday during the 5th Bridge community-wide garage sale. From 7:15am until 2:00pm skateboarders and other members of the Coalition were out at Mary Nelson’s house (thanks Mary!) selling items that many superb individuals donated to the cause. Another thanks must go to the Sayner Family for a wonderful donation during the event. I bet the Coalition’s site was the only one with bunnies for sale. For more photos and more in depth coverage, check out Griff Wigley’s post on Locally Grown.

Key’s Garden Club Helps out with Community Garden

Posted by Joshua Jude, May 5th , 2008.

Member’s of The Key’s Garden Club have secured their own plot at the community garden in Greenvale Park. On Saturday the 3rd, the kids worked with other members of the new community garden with edging the garden, putting up a fence for the garden, marking the plots, hanging gates, and an assortment of other things. The Key has a lot planned for their plot and encourage anyone interested to come help out. The kids will be back out there on May 18th taking out the witch grass and other weeds. Anyone wishing to get involved should email northfieldunionofyouth@gmail.com.
