Skatepark Fundraiser - Save the Date! February 10th

Save the Date!
The Northfield Skateboard Coalition will host a pancake breakfast fundraiser at Applebee’s on Sunday, February 10, 2008, from 8-9:30 a.m. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door, from a Skateboard Coalition member, or by contacting HCI (664-3524, info@northfieldhci.org).

All donations will be matched 1:1 as part of a challenge grant for the Skateboard Coalition from HCI.

Mentoring Coalition Takes trip to 2008 National Figure Skating Championships

The Northfield Mentoring Coalition attended the 2008 National Figure Skating Championships at the Xcel Center in St. Paul on Monday the 21st of January. A packed bus of over 35 mentees and about 25 mentors attended the event. The Key brought along about 8 kids to help serve as temporary mentors for the elementary and middle school youth that attended the event.

Art Project Getting Sticky with Tape Sculptures

Art Project will be attempting to make life-sized human tape sculptures on Tuesday January 29th at 6:30pm. Anyone is invited and this project is free to the public. Come down and pose as a swimmer, climber, thinker, or anything else tasteful.

Funding for the Minnesota After-School Community Learning program is provided by the Minnesota Department of Education

Packed House at Public Skatepark Meeting

The Northfield Skatepark Coalition brought a nearly full house to the Park Board open house meeting on site location. The meeting went very well with much support vocalized by the public. Congratulations to the Coalition for a job well done!!

Financial Aid Director to appear at College Prep on the 23rd

Kathy Ruby, the director of financial aid at St. Olaf College, will be at College Prep on Wednesday January 23rd at 7:00pm. She is emphasizing that she will be talking about college financing in general not just 4 year colleges (and not just liberal arts either). She can talk about 2 year tech schools, 4 year public universities and state schools, liberal arts and private schools, etc. She will be there to answer questions, so please bring them. Cooking with Luigi Saturday the 19th

Cooking With Luigi, the Key’s cooking program, will be making chocolate on Saturday the 26th 6:00pm at Emmaus Church. Luigi Sison will be leading class. There is a signup sheet at The Key and anyone ages 12-20 is welcome to participate. Like ALL Key programs, this is FREE to anyone ages 12-20. Radio Show up and Running Again

Key Radio Live will continue holding its radio prep meetings on Thursdays at 7:00pm at The Key. Anyone interested in getting involved with this youth radio program should attend these meetings. Everyone ages 12-20 is welcome and encouraged to participate. Key Radio Live recently had a “dress rehearsal” on Saturday the 5th of January and their first show will be Saturday the 12th 9:00am on KYMN.
