The Skatepark Coalition will be attending a Tuesday, March 6th meeting with Peterson Manufacturing, a company that is experienced in building skateparks. The meeting will also include members of city council, the park board, and members of the community. The Coalition’s goal is to have at least 50 people attend in support of the meeting. The meeting will take place at the Northfield Community Resource Center (NCRC) in room SS105 at 6:30pm. The NCRC is located at 1651 Jefferson Parkway (next to the High School). Anyone with questions should email the Coalition at northfieldskate@yahoo.com. Please don’t forget about the skatepark benefit hip hop show Friday the 23rd at the Key at 7:00pm.

The popularity of lampworking (glass bead-making) is consuming the culture of The Key, like World of Warcraft’s consumption of a certain male staffer. Anyway, that analogy aside, come on down to The Key’s Art Project on Tuesday the 27th at 6:30 to make a bead or two or three. Two torches will be set up and all supplies and equipment are free to youth ages 12-20. Are glass beads hip? Why, yes they are. The more you make the cooler you are.

Posters are all around town and word is spreading, but in case you don’t know, this friday the 23rd The Key is hosting a giant hip hop fest. Kanser and Carnage are the headliners and a local DJ will fill in the slots. There will be raffles, hat tagging, breakdancing, and many other events. ALL PROCEEDS will go to the SKATEPARK COALITION. Tickets are being sold at the high school during lunch hour for $6 (you will automatically be put in the raffle). At the door the price is $6/$5 with a membership card. Myspace reminders will be sent out. Doors open at 6:00pm and the show is on at 7:00pm. You don’t want to miss this extraordinary event.

Art Project for Tuesday the 20th will be silk screen t-shirts. Be at the Key at 6:30 and make your very own shirt. All shirts are durable and ready to wear the following day. Choose from a variety of colors and browse the internet for letters and designs. As always, all supplies are free and open to youth ages 12-20. There will be experienced staff on hand to help assist youth with their projects. So come on down and break many registered trademarks (just kidding).

Yes, yes, yes. Lampworking means glass beads, and glass beads is what we are doing for art project on tuesday the 13th. So bring a friend and bring a vision. We will have experienced instructors and staff on hand to assist. This project is FREE and open to youth ages 12-18. NOTE: Art Project is now at 6:30, NOT 7:00pm.
