Yes, the Key’s long dormant program, Knitting Nite is back and we meet Sundays at 7:30pm. Anyone interested in making a scarf, hat, or whatever should come on down. In the coming weeks, The Key will provide free yarn and knitting needles (and advice) to those wishing to participate.

Book Club will have one final discussion about Dorothy Allison’s book One or Two Things I Know For Sure and will then proceed to hand out copies of David Sedaris’ Holidays on Ice. This book will have minimal discussion and will used mainly as comedic relief over the holidays. Come down to the Key this monday, Dec. 18th at 5:00pm to pick up a free copy. This book is free to anyone age 12-20 wishing to participate.

The Key’s Art Project will be creating holiday ornaments this Tuesday the 19th at 7:00pm. Digitial cameras will be available so participants can make ornaments of themselves and hang on their tree. Those participating can hang their newly made ornaments on the Key’s Christmas tree. All supplies are free. Santa Claus Pirates anyone?

This Friday at 5:00 at Emmaus Church, the Northfield Union of Youth’s cooking class, Cooking With Luigi! will be making cookies. Come make some holiday cheer for your friends and family. This proram and event is free and open to youth ages 12-20. This will be the last cooking class of the year.

This Tuesday the Skateboard Coalition will be meeting with the Northfield Park Board to present and discuss options and hopes for a new skatepark in Northfield. The Skatepark Coalition consists of Youth Plus, The Key, The Mayor’s Youth Council, and local skateboarders, and has been meeting on a weekly basis since June of this year. The meeting will be 7:00pm in room SS105 of the NCRC. Skateboarders of all ages and their supporters are encouraged to come and show support.

Cooking With Luigi! will be cooking stir fry this friday the 8th 5:00 at Emmaus Church. The project is free and those wishing to participate should sign up at the Key. Book Club has chosen feminist author Dorothy Allison’s short memoir Two or Three Things I Know For Sure to read for the month of December. The book was a National Book Award finalist and is coming of age tale of the author growing up in the south. The book is nostalgic and painful, southern and worldly, feminist and human. Book Club meets at the Key 5:00 on mondays and is free to all.
