Feb. 21: Bright Future, directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, (2003, 115 min.)
Two young guys work in a plant that manufactures oshibori (moist handtowels found in some Japanese restaurants). Their weird bond is based on uncontrollable rage–something neither can articulate or control–and the strange jellyfish that they keep as a pet.
We will meet at the Key at 6:30 on Teusday, and transportation to Southgate Cinema will be provided. There is no charge, and all are welcome. Sounds rad, dudes.
St. Olaf bands Unicorn Basement and Tartlton will be playing at the Key Saturday 18th at 7:00pm. This concert is FREE and CDs will be for sale by Unicorn Basement. The show promises to be a danceable, groovy, crazy music experience.
The Key will be handing out FREE copies of The Bell Jar for its weekly Book Club program. Youth, ages 12-19, are encouraged to stop by the Key the week of Monday the 13th to pick up a copy. The first assignment is to read until page 86 and the foreward. Book club ensures participants that the next book will be more “upbeat.” The Bell Jar is a masterpiece of a novel describing a young woman’s descent into madness because of set social structures.
